Albanian Football Associationhas proposed removing the “Final Four” format, alongside a full restructuring of the championship with three regular phases.
After the completion of the three phases, the league is expected to be split into two groups.
The first group will consist of teams ranked from 1st to 6th place, where a points-halving system will also be applied. These teams will play home-and-away matches to determine the season’s champion. In total, around 37 matches are expected to be played up to this stage.
Meanwhile, the second group will include teams from 7th to 10th place, who will compete for survival in the top division. This group will play in a home–away–home format, where one team will be directly relegated from the Superliga, while another will go into a “play-out” match.
According to the proposal, the 2027–2028 season is also expected to expand the number of teams in the top tier, as two teams will be promoted directly from the First Division, while another will have a chance through a playoff against the 9th-placed Superliga team.
