Donald Trump said that Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles must either be handed over to the United States or destroyed under international supervision, as negotiations for a new agreement with Tehran continue.

In a post on the Truth Social platform, the American president said that Iran’s enriched uranium should either be transferred to the United States for destruction or destroyed in another location, in the presence of international observers.

According to American reports, US officials have argued that Iran’s entire stockpile of enriched uranium must be removed as part of a possible agreement.

Tehran, for its part, insists that it will not discuss its nuclear program before a possible 60-day ceasefire is implemented, which is being negotiated as part of the agreement.

Contacts between the two sides are continuing, with no signs of a final agreement so far.

“Enriched uranium (‘Nuclear Dust!’) will either be immediately handed over to the United States for transfer and destruction or, preferably, in cooperation and coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran, it will be destroyed on site or at another acceptable location, with the Atomic Energy Commission or its equivalent supervising the process,” Trump wrote.

He did not clarify whether he was referring exclusively to the approximately 440 kilograms of highly enriched uranium possessed by Iran or the country’s entire stockpile of enriched uranium.
