117 people injured at work in 2024, annual increase of 5.4%

Workplace accidents have been increasing year after year. According to INSTAT data, in 2024 there were 224 inspections recorded due to workplace accidents, marking a 2.8% increase compared to the previous year.
The number of employees injured at work was 177, an increase of 5.4% compared to 2023. Of these, 18.6% were women. Regarding fatal accidents, in 2024 there were 33 work-related deaths, or 3 more than the previous year. Of those who died, 6.1% were women.
In 2024, the total number of primary care visits was 8,951,864, showing a 3.1% decrease compared to the previous year. Of these visits: 42.5% were carried out in health centers; 23.9% in ambulances; and 33.6% in polyclinics.
The data shows that 35.4% of visits in health centers and ambulances were made by individuals over 60 years old.
In 2024, a total of 184,801 visits were recorded at women’s counseling clinics, a decrease of 9.2% compared to 2023. Of these, 78.1% were obstetric visits and 21.9% were gynecological visits. Among the obstetric visits, half of them (50.4%) were performed with the assistance of a specialist doctor. A total of 15.9% of all obstetric visits were first-time visits, marking a 4.6% increase compared to the previous year.
In 2024, a total of 267,048 children were registered at pediatric consultation clinics, where 731,277 visits were carried out, averaging 2.7 visits per child per year. Compared to 2023, the number of visits decreased by 1.0%. Of all visits, 52.9% were performed with the assistance of a specialist doctor, while the rest were carried out by midwives and nurses.
During 2024, the number of infants aged 0–1 who were exclusively breastfed was 15,068, while the number of those fed exclusively with formula was 3,459.
In 2024, vaccination coverage for children within their first year of life remained high between 97.0% and 99.0% for all vaccines included in the national immunization schedule, with the exception of the Measles-Rubella-Mumps vaccine, which had a coverage rate of 92.0%.
Last year, there were 65 hospitals in the country, of which 41 were public and 24 private. Public hospital institutions admitted 299,318 patients, marking a 4.8% increase compared to 2023. In public hospitals, 8,911 beds were available. Bed utilization stood at 176.7 days, representing 48.4% of all calendar days in 2024.
The average length of stay per patient was 4.7 days per year, with a bed turnover rate of 37.8 patients per bed annually. In hospital services, a total of 65,302 surgical interventions were performed, an increase of 0.4% compared to 2023.
