Around 40 students of the Security Academy in Tirana are suspected of being poisoned after consuming food on the premises of the institution.

According to preliminary information, immediately after Wednesday’s lunch, the students began experiencing health problems, with some suffering more serious complications and being taken to hospital for treatment.

The consumed food is suspected to be the cause, as the Security Academy provides food services through a private catering company.

The cadets showed symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea, while around 10 ambulances arrived at the Academy on Wednesday afternoon to transport them to hospital after their condition worsened.

Sources say that the Academy’s cadets have repeatedly raised concerns about the quality of the food provided to them.

The condition of the affected students is reported to be under control, and all have been discharged from the hospital after receiving the necessary medical treatment, while investigations continue.
