Skënderbeu for the new season has had numerous acquisitions from abroad, which appear to be well-planned as part of a long-term strategy for the club.
Two introductions from Nigeria were made yesterday, bringing the total number of foreign players at Skënderbeu to nine.
It is highly likely that the two Nigerians introduced yesterday will be part of the youth team, and if they prove to be significant players, they will join the first team. Currently, the two Nigerians will train with the senior team.
With 9 foreign players so far, Skënderbeu plans to keep 7 with the first team, and possibly more foreign reinforcements are expected in the coming days.
What stands out is that the foreign players come from five different countries. Nigeria has the most players at Skënderbeu, with four. There are also two Brazilians, and one player each from Colombia, Cameroon, and Ghana.
A truly multinational team with so many foreign players, but the club has a specific strategy to sell those who immediately excel with their performances.
Below are the nine foreign players currently at Skënderbeu:
Lucho Vásquez - 21 years old, defender (Colombia)
Bismark Charles - 23 years old, forward (Ghana)
Franklin Kamleu - 20 years old, midfielder (Cameroon)
Marko Ramos - 25 years old, defender (Brazil)
Juri Merlim - 25 years old, midfielder (Brazil)
Mario Rabiu - 24 years old, midfielder (Nigeria)
Samuel Ajine - 20 years old, forward (Nigeria)
Akpama Gift - 17 years old, defender (Nigeria)
Chukunyere Emmanuel - 17 years old, midfielder (Nigeria)
