A driver has been arrested and two customs officers are under investigation for transporting contraband goods

The Local Directorate for Border and Migration Services in Shkodër has intensified checks at all border crossing points to prevent and combat cross-border crimes.

Based on operational information regarding goods smuggling, the Shkodër DVKM services stopped a vehicle on the “Shkodër–Muriqan” road, driven by F. L., who was transporting contraband goods in his vehicle specifically 352 boxes (8,448 cans) of soft drinks.

Following the actions taken in this case:

F. L., 46, resident of Shkodër, was arrested in flagrante for the criminal offense of “Smuggling of other goods.”

Case materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office, and proceedings were initiated for the criminal offense of “Abuse of duty” against I. K., 32, and G. K., 53, both serving as customs officers at the Muriqan customs office.

The goods and the vehicle were seized as material evidence.
