A footballer who is driving everyone crazy / Korçë’s Angela Nika: “I’ve been teased by national team players”

Albanian women’s football is experiencing continuous growth, with more and more young girls joining the pitch with passion and dedication.

One of the most promising names is Angela Nika, an 18-year-old center-back from Korça, who has already made her mark both at club level and with the youth national teams.

Guest on the show “Wake up with MCN,” Angela shared her journey in football and discussed her ambitions for the future.

“I have had a long-standing connection with sports, which I loved from a very young age. My father, who played football when he was young, immediately supported my passion unlike my mother, who hesitated at first.

I have always adored sports, especially football. As a child, I was the girl who played with the boys and scored goals.

When I was around 15, I received an invitation from the national team. After finishing 9th grade, I decided to move to Tirana to have more opportunities and be part of a team with stronger competition.

I was a bit of a ‘tomboy,’ different from the other girls in the neighborhood. At first, everyone was surprised, but now they are used to it.”
