African heatwave covers the country, the weekend is expected to bring temperatures of up to 35°C

Air masses originating from North Africa, which are being fed with moisture from the Mediterranean Sea, have brought relatively unstable atmospheric conditions over the territory of Albania.


Meteorologist Elida Maloçali, in a live connection for the news edition on Top Channel, explained what the weather will be like in the coming week as well.


According to meteorological forecasts, during the weekend the country will experience changeable weather, alternating between clear skies and cloudiness. During midday hours, clouds are expected to be accompanied by rain showers and downpours, mainly in mountainous areas, while the coastline will mostly remain dry.


The wind will blow at speeds of 7 to 14 m/s, bringing locally variable conditions in some areas.


As for temperatures, the country is under typical subtropical conditions, with values expected to reach up to 33–34°C during the weekend.


During the following week, the weather will remain similar, with mostly clear skies across the territory and isolated rainfall in mountainous regions. Temperatures are expected to rise further, reaching up to 34–35°C, while the wind will be lighter, around 5 m/s.
