AIS data / In Korçë, over half are married and 16.1% are divorced. Vlora residents only divorce. Tirana has the lowest marriage rate

Latest AIS data show significant differences between Albania’s counties regarding marriage and divorce rates.


Vlora leads in divorce rates, with 21.2 divorced persons per 1,000 inhabitants, followed by Gjirokastra with 18.7 and Berat with 16.9.


Next are Korça with 16.1 and Tirana with 15.7, indicating a higher concentration of divorces in these areas.


On the other hand, Kukës has the lowest divorce rate in the country, with only 5.8 per 1,000 inhabitants. Dibra and Lezha also show lower levels, with 9.1 and 11.5 respectively, reflecting a more conservative profile in terms of marital breakdown compared to the rest of the country.


Regarding marriages, Fier ranks first with around 611 married people per 1,000 inhabitants, followed by Gjirokastra, Vlora, Korça, and Elbasan, where over half of the population is married.


In contrast, Tirana has the lowest marriage rate, with 513 per 1,000 inhabitants, standing out as a county with a less traditional family model and a higher proportion of divorces.
