Brataj: On average, 12 road accidents occur every day

Roads in Albania are being “bled” by daily traffic accidents, many of which are fatal. Skënder Brataj, Director of the National Emergency Service, stated in an interview for Euronews Albania that an average of 12 road accidents occur every day, with most of them caused by young age groups.

Brataj said that all institutions must be made aware and engaged in analyzing the causes of these accidents.

At the same time, accidents represent only one part of overall trauma cases, which rank fifth when it comes to causes of death and disability.

Meanwhile, the latest report from INSTAT shows that only in March, 89 road accidents were recorded, with 117 people injured, some of them fatally.

Statistical analysis confirms that in March, 86.5% of road accidents were caused by driver behavior, while the 25–34 age group represents the highest number of accidents, accounting for 32.6% of the total recorded cases during the period.
