Inspections continue in Korçë County to combat illegal activities.

The police operation codenamed "Qarku" has been completed.

Five venues were uncovered in the cities of Korçë and Pogradec, used for organizing illegal gambling activities.

Two venue administrators in Korçë and Pogradec were arrested.

Six other individuals, including administrators and employees of the identified venues, are being prosecuted.

A person who had been wanted for two days in connection with gambling activities was also located and is being prosecuted while free.

Equipment used for gambling and several mobile phones were seized.

Based on operational information, Korçë and Pogradec Police identified several venues in these cities where gambling activities were being organized.

During the procedural actions for this case, the following individuals were arrested in flagrante:

J. L., 29, resident of Korçë, venue administrator, charged with “Organizing or conducting gambling activities against the law,” “Making venues available for gambling,” and “Illegal employment.”

E. M., 26, resident of Pogradec, venue administrator, charged with “Organizing or conducting gambling activities against the law,” “Making venues available for gambling,” and “Concealing income.”

During inspections of their venues, monitors and mobile devices used for placing sports bets were found, as well as employees who were not registered with competent authorities.

Additionally, criminal proceedings were initiated for:

M. V., 48, resident of Korçë, and S. B., 34, resident of Pogradec, for “Illegal employment,” as two unregistered waiters were found working at their venues.

V. T., 19, and Ç. P., 42, residents of Korçë, for “Organizing or conducting gambling activities against the law.”

E. Ç., 41, resident of Pogradec, for operating an unregistered business.

D. K., 43, resident of Korçë, for “False declaration to Judicial Police officers.”

During the inspections, N. D., 35, resident of Korçë, who had been wanted for two days, was also apprehended. He had threatened an 18-year-old over the phone regarding a debt related to sports bets he had placed.

All procedural materials have been referred to the Korçë Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
