The Transparency Board has changed fuel prices in the country again. Diesel will be sold at 197 ALL per liter, 5 lek less than before, while gasoline will be 186 ALL per liter, 2 lek less.
The prices set by the Board will enter into force today, 21.05.2026, at 13:00 and will remain valid until the next board meeting, when any changes in retail prices will be reflected.
“The Transparency Board, in its meeting on 21 May 2026, decided:
The retail price of diesel (standard SSH EN 590) shall be no more than 197 ALL/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 185 ALL/liter. The retail price of gasoline shall be no more than 186 ALL/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 174 ALL/liter.
The prices set by the Board will enter into force today at 13:00 and will remain valid until the next meeting of the Board, where any changes in selling prices will be reflected.
We draw the attention of all wholesale and retail operators of petroleum products to the obligation to comply with this decision. In case of violations, suspension of activity will be imposed. The Ministry of Economy and Innovation together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and maintaining fair market competition principles.”
CLARIFICATION: Referring to Normative Act no. 1, dated 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law no. 61/2012, ‘On Excise Duties in the Republic of Albania,’ as amended, it is provided that if the retail price of diesel is higher than 220 ALL/liter, or gasoline higher than 200 ALL/liter, then 80% excise duty applies. Based on the methodology for calculating retail price ceilings, the prices are below the threshold of the Normative Act, therefore the excise duty level will be fully applied at 100%.”
