BREAKING NEWS / Will teachers receive the salary increase in the month of March? Here’s what will happen!

Prime Minister Edi Rama promised a salary increase of 3,000 lekë for every teacher starting from January 1, 2026. This was the promise he made to over 30,000 teachers and other education employees. However, in the first days of February, when the January salary was paid, this increase did not take place.

Even in the first days of March, when teachers will receive their February salary, teachers across Albania will once again not receive the salary increase. The Council of Ministers decision has been issued, but it has not yet reached the local education offices (ZVAs) across Albania for the new salary increase to be implemented.

Despite the fact that the decision has been approved and signed, the increase will not be included in the February salary to be paid at the beginning of March. As a result, teachers are expected to benefit from the new increase only in April, when they are expected to receive three months combined, amounting to an additional 9,000 lekë.

Of course, so far the Prime Minister has misled them, and the March 7 celebration will find teachers without the increase, even though in fact the increase is only an indexation and nothing more.

In short, teachers will securely receive this increase in April, retroactive from January 1, 2026.
