Cherry harvest ready in Dvoran / Farmers: Labor shortage threatens the harvest

As the cherry harvest season approaches in Dvoran, farmers are expecting high yields, but they warn that a shortage of workers is threatening the smooth completion of the harvest.
Residents who once regularly took part in seasonal agricultural work are becoming increasingly scarce.
According to farmers, many experienced workers choose to travel to neighboring countries during the season, attracted by the higher wages offered there.
Although daily pay has reportedly reached up to 3,000 lek (30,000 old lek), farmers say they are still unable to secure the number of workers needed.
The situation is made even more difficult by the lack of people with experience in harvesting cherries, a task that requires care and skill.
In addition to labor shortages, farmers also express concerns about marketing their produce and the lack of reliable markets for their harvest.
They are calling for stronger support policies for the agricultural sector, stressing that without concrete intervention, not only farmers' profits but also the future sustainability of their businesses could be at risk.
