Drilon in Pogradec is experiencing a successful tourist season, with more than 24,000 visitors recorded from January through the end of July.
The flow of tourists has increased by 19.4 percent compared with last year, while June and July recorded the highest number of visits. The opening of the Visitor Center is expected to further strengthen Drilon’s role as one of the main destinations in southeastern Albania.
Surrounded by greenery, crystal-clear springs, and the tranquility of Lake Ohrid, Drilon continues to be one of the most popular destinations for tourists during the summer season.
Every day, hundreds of local and foreign visitors choose the park to enjoy the scenery, walks along the water, and boat rides through its natural channels. Drilon, also known to residents of Pogradec as Voloreka, is located around 6 kilometers from Pogradec.
From January through the end of July, 24,131 people visited the park, representing an increase of 19.4 percent compared with the same period last year. The highest number of visitors was recorded during June and July.
The increase in visitor numbers has also been accompanied by investments in infrastructure.
Around 4,000 meters of pedestrian pathways have been built in the park, while the green spaces have been expanded and the promenades, bridges, and bicycle lanes have been improved.
Another important development is the Visitors’ Center, located at the entrance to Drilon, which is expected to become accessible to tourists in October.
The center will showcase the region’s flora, fauna, traditions, cultural values, and archaeological heritage through exhibitions and technological equipment.
For tourists, Drilon offers a combination of nature and various activities. In addition to boat rides, visitors can photograph swans and other birds, enjoy traditional dishes at restaurants near the lake, and explore the surrounding areas.
Its location near Lake Ohrid, Tushemisht, and Saint Naum makes Drilon an important destination on tourist itineraries in southeastern Albania.
