Strong Earthquake of 5.8 Magnitude Hits the Coast of Rhodes.
A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 on the Richter scale occurred at 2:17 AM on Tuesday off the coast of Rhodes.
The epicenter of the quake was located 21 kilometers north of Rhodes, at a depth estimated at 64.9 kilometers.
The tremor was felt in many areas of Turkey, as well as in Crete.
Earlier, the quake had been recorded at 5.7R, 26 kilometers northeast of Rhodes, with a depth of 40 kilometers.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Institute later assessed the quake at a magnitude of 6.0R, with the epicenter 19 kilometers north of Rhodes.
So far, there are no reports of damage or injuries.
