“He dedicated his life to sport,” Armand Duka honors the memory of Artan Pogoni

The sudden passing of Artan Pogoni has shocked Albanian sport. The former volleyball player, coach, lecturer, sports executive, and commentator passed away yesterday at the age of 54 due to cardiac arrest, while he was in Vlora.


The tragic news has sparked numerous reactions from sports figures, while the president of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka, expressed his condolences through a message on social media, describing Pogoni’s loss as a great pain for the entire Albanian sports community.


In his message, Duka highlighted Artan Pogoni’s many years of contribution, emphasizing that he dedicated his life to sport and left an important mark in several roles.


“Artan dedicated his life to sport, leaving his mark as an athlete, coach, lecturer, executive, and commentator. Through his professionalism, passion, and dedication, he contributed to the development of volleyball and the education of younger generations, earning the respect of the entire sports community. The legacy he leaves behind will remain an example of inspiration for many young people who choose sport as their path,” wrote the FSHF president.


Artan Pogoni will be remembered as one of the most respected figures in Albanian volleyball. His passing leaves a great void not only for his family and friends but also for the entire sports community, which has lost a person of great human and professional values.
