Investigative journalist Flamur Vezaj, together with his colleague Elton Qyno, have shed more light on what they describe as “special meetings” inside Albanian prison cells.
They discussed this alleged “dark phenomenon” in the “Ma Shqip me Flamur Vezajn” show, saying that, according to publicly shared information, for a long time there have been claims of women from Albanian showbiz entering prison facilities to have special meetings with inmates.
According to details discussed in the program, one of the most commonly used ways to gain entry into penitentiary institutions is through cohabitation declarations.
Women from the entertainment and event world are allegedly presented as cohabiting partners of convicted prisoners through notarial documents, while in some cases altered identities or family members’ names are used to bypass verification.
It was also stated that another scheme involves entering prisons disguised as legal assistants, taking advantage of procedures and controls that are not always strict at entry points.
Journalist Vezaj also claimed that for each entry, payments range from 500 to 1,000 euros, with suspicions that the money passes through several levels within prison administration.
He added: “In a special room where meetings last up to 5 hours. In fact, these rooms inside prisons have become like 5-star hotels due to investments made by these powerful individuals. The cohabitation declaration has long been abused. In cooperation with notaries, cohabitation documents are issued for payment, identities are changed, not using real names but those of family members. This allows well-known showbiz girls and event figures to enter prisons.
Of course, in exchange for payments ranging from 500 to 1,000 euros per case to prison staff and management levels. I have received many reports, photos, and videos,” Vezaj stated.
