The Football Federation organized a mini-football tournament on the occasion of March 8th, International Women’s Day, with the participation of UN Women representatives, sports journalists, and women from the FSHF administrative staff. The purpose of this activity was to send messages of awareness and sensitization regarding gender equality, the fight against violence and discrimination, among other issues.

In a statement to fshf.org, sports journalist Vilma Masha, FSHF official Pamela Ndocaj, and UN Women representative Alba Agolli praised this activity and shared their messages, emphasizing the importance of gender equality, empowering women, and breaking down prejudices.

Sport was hailed as a symbol of solidarity, and a call was made for more unity among women to build a more just society. The main message was that March 8th is not just a day for flowers but also for actions and change.

“The model of success is very important, not only in our country but worldwide. I believe the media has done its part in a way. We try every day to promote success stories of people who have raised the name of the country as well as their own name. By promoting sports, by promoting the important values it conveys, and also all the commitment and determination to move forward, to face every difficulty, to succeed even though you are a woman, despite prejudices or anything else. On this March 8th, I would like women to believe more in themselves, to believe more in their abilities, and to break any prejudice, especially the male one,” said Vilma Masha, sports journalist.

“For me, this match is a celebration of the solidarity of girls and women. It’s not just a game, but a strong message we want to send, saying that, united, we can overcome any kind of limitation and difficulty. This is our way of showing that March 8th is not just a day for flowers, but also for actions and change,” said Pamela Ndocaj, FSHF official.

“As part of International Women’s Day, the message we have for women and girls is that we all need to be together for all women and girls. This day is dedicated to all of us, but we must be united so that we have a more equal society, with more rights, especially between men and women,” said Alba Agolli, UN Women representative.
