Journalist Klodiana Lala has revealed shocking details about the killing of Judge Astrit Kalaja inside the courtroom.
Lala reported that Kalaja was shot by the perpetrator, who was a party in the case, immediately after issuing the verdict against the Shkëmbi party.
“Judge Astrit Kalaja was presiding alone when, after announcing the decision, the suspected perpetrator Elvis Shkëmbi—who was accompanying his uncle—opened fire, killing the judge on the spot. The case that triggered the shooting involved Gjon Shkëmbi.
Initially, it was suggested that he might be the main suspect, as the police had previously investigated information regarding the parties involved in a long-standing legal dispute over the building of the former Reserve School in Shkodër, a case that had extended from Shkodër to the Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction.
The opposing party in this conflict were father and son, Rakip and Ervis Kurti.
The court remains under lockdown. The dispute dates back to 1992,” Lala stated.
