Kilometer-long queues and hours of waiting in Qafë Thanë, Mayor of Pogradec: A solution must be found

The waiting times at the border crossing point at Qafë Thanë are not only forming kilometer-long queues but are also causing hours of delays for people entering and leaving Albania.

The Mayor of Pogradec, Ilir Xhakolli, stated that this has been a long-standing issue and that he has requested that institutions find an appropriate solution to eliminate border queues and the stress and fatigue they cause.

“What I am asking the police, especially regarding the difficulties at Qafë Thanë, is that the new system, instead of facilitating free movement, has made it more difficult. Today, even before the tourist season has started, there are long queues—let alone when the tourist season begins. I believe the citizens’ request from Pogradec will be heard,” he said.
