The months of August and September coincide with the stocking of Lake Ohrid with young koran fish, which is why this period in Pogradec is also marked by the annual Koran Festival.
This year’s event once again brought together local chefs, who presented visitors with a variety of koran dishes prepared according to traditional recipes.
According to the chefs, the “king of the lake” remains one of the most popular attractions for tourists and visitors.
For Albanian master chef Arian Ceka, Pogradec’s culinary scene has continued to grow, thanks in part to the combination of traditional and modern recipes, keeping koran dishes a favorite among visitors.
This year alone, 2 million young koran fish are being released into the lake. According to Deputy Minister Arian Jaupllari, unlike in North Macedonia, this process is expected to increase every year.
Thousands of visitors who came to Pogradec during August were able to enjoy not only the local cuisine but also an evening of live music featuring well-known artists from Kosovo, including Fisnikët, Trix, and Poqi Band, who made history with their music during the 1980s and 1990s.
