Internationalization is becoming one of the main priorities of the “Fan S. Noli” University in Korçë, with student and academic exchanges with foreign universities through mobility programs. This year, 42 foreign students have come to Korçë, while 14 Albanian students have participated in mobility programs abroad.
“We are in the process of internationalization. We have mobility agreements with several foreign universities. For academics, we have 73 outgoing and 56 incoming exchanges. Fourteen of our students have gone abroad through mobility programs, while 42 students from several countries have come here to participate in mobility programs,” says Lorenc Ekonomi, Rector of the University.
The cooperation is expected to expand further through joint study programs. The university will launch a doctoral program with a joint degree in partnership with a Romanian university, as well as a Master of Science program in Computer Science in cooperation with the University of Bari.
During the first phase of registrations, around 330 students enrolled. The most sought-after programs are Nursing, Sports, and Midwifery, while Economics, Finance, Management, and digital programs are also attracting significant interest.
One of this year’s innovations is the “Data Science” program, which will be taught in two languages, Albanian and English. The program is a reorganization of the Mathematics-Informatics degree and focuses on artificial intelligence, coding, and algorithms.
“The new program is Data Science, a bilingual program in Albanian and English, as we hope to also attract foreign students. It is a reorganization of the Mathematics-Informatics degree and is based on artificial intelligence, coding, and algorithms. This year, we are also opening a doctoral program with a joint degree in cooperation with a Romanian university, as well as a Master of Science in Computer Science with the University of Bari. We also offer a bachelor’s program with a double degree in cooperation with the Polytechnic University.”
No new bachelor’s programs are planned. The university aims to reorganize programs with lower demand, adapting them to the needs of the labor market and the demand for new professionals.
