Disturbing new details have surfaced about the gruesome murder that took place days ago in Pogradec, where a 31-year-old man fatally stabbed his 52-year-old partner. After several years of cohabitation, their relationship ended in the most brutal way imaginable, in a violent act that has deeply shaken public opinion.

According to investigators, the perpetrator attempted to eliminate all evidence following the crime. He cleaned up the blood in the apartment, tidied the scene, and then set fire to the residence they once shared. However, this act did not cover his tracks, on the contrary, it led investigators directly to the truth.

Surveillance footage from cameras near the crime scene played a crucial role. The recordings revealed the suspect’s movements before and after the murder, debunking his initial claim that he was not even in the city at the time.

At first, he denied everything. He claimed to have been in Korçë and said he found his partner dead upon returning. He even tried to justify the presence of blood in the apartment with an absurd excuse, that he may have slaughtered a chicken, citing the victim’s obsession with cleanliness.

During questioning, the suspect insisted that he loved the woman and that their age difference was never a problem. He claimed to come from a “good family” and could never be a killer. But confronted with the video evidence, injuries he sustained during the struggle, and the crime scene reconstruction, he finally broke down. After seven hours of interrogation, he confessed.

In his testimony, the man stated that their relationship had deteriorated in recent months and that the victim had become increasingly aggressive, especially under the influence of alcohol. According to him, the fatal day’s argument spiraled out of control.

A forensic examination confirmed that the woman had been stabbed, a clear sign of an extreme outburst of violence. After the killing, he tried to erase all traces of the crime, but failed.

He now faces charges of intentional murder under aggravating circumstances and destruction of evidence through arson. A psychological evaluation has also been ordered to assess his mental state at the time of the crime.

Investigations are ongoing, and the case is expected to be treated as one of the most serious instances of intimate partner violence in Albania in recent years.
