A meteorite that struck a house in the USA on June 26, breaking through its roof, has been found to be older than the Earth.
Georgia State University completed the analysis of the meteorite, dating it to have formed approximately 4.56 billion years ago, about 20 million years older than our planet.
According to a statement from the university, this meteorite had a long history before entering Earth’s atmosphere.
Scott Harris, a researcher at the university, said: “This meteorite had a long journey before hitting the house.”
The homeowners where the meteorite landed continue to find fragments in the surrounding area.
This discovery serves as a surprising reminder for scientists and the public alike of the diversity and wonders of the universe.
