Greece is not finding peace from the continuous seismic tremors. This time, not on the island of Santorini, but in Patras. An earthquake with a magnitude of 5 on the Richter scale shook the neighboring country this evening (February 18) around 7:00 PM local time, in Kyllini. There are no reports of injuries or damage.
Specifically, according to the notification from the Geodynamic Institute, the epicenter is located 7 kilometers northwest of Kyllini with a focal depth of 18.7 kilometers.
As noted in his post by seismologist Akis Tselentis, the tremors were also felt in Patras, but there have been no issues, the media reports.
The area has a significant seismic history, says Gerasimos Papadopoulos, another Greek seismologist. Meanwhile, in Santorini, even though the intensity of the tremors has decreased significantly, panic remains present as it is occasionally accompanied by earthquakes that exceed 5 on the scale.
