Post Office theft, Llabani: “The former director was known as a frequent casino visitor; there are other people behind her”

Journalist Anduena Llabani spoke on Now about the theft at the Durrës Post Office and the investigation launched into its former director.

Llabani stated that the former director was regarded as someone who had problems managing her responsibilities and was also known as a frequent visitor to casinos.

She added that the case may not be limited to the three individuals currently under arrest but instead appears to point to a much broader organized scheme.

“This is clearly a much broader scheme that goes beyond these three women. I’ve spoken with people who have influence in the city of Durrës, and they described the former director as someone who had problems managing both her position and the post office. They also knew her as a frequent casino visitor.

Throughout my career, I’ve seen videos of people wearing masks breaking in to steal, but I had never seen a director stealing from inside the institution together with her own secretary.

So we’re seeing a different kind of actor in crimes like this. Moreover, her statements to the judicial authorities—that ‘no one can stop me from doing this’—suggest that there are other people behind her who appear to have influence and authority, indicating something more like an organized group rather than the individual actions of just the two women.”

The journalist emphasized that the former director's attitude before investigators was described as arrogant and fearless, raising suspicions that other individuals may also be involved.

“She shows no fear—that’s arrogance. The fact that she acted so openly and told the heads of the investigative authorities, ‘I have no problem with this, and you can’t stop me,’ suggests that there are more powerful people behind her. We don’t know whether she has done something like this before,” Llabani said.

In conclusion, the journalist stated that the Durrës Prosecutor’s Office is verifying whether there have been other similar cases, including incidents that may have gone unreported or undocumented.

“I know that the Durrës Prosecutor’s Office is currently conducting checks to determine whether there have been other documented cases, or incidents that were never reported or formally denounced. But this is something that, over the years even in another profession, this woman has allegedly done,” she said.
