Prison inspections / What was found and seized

Three inspections were carried out in penitentiary institutions in Shkodër, Durrës and Peqin, where several prohibited items were found and seized.

According to statements from the General Directorate of Prisons, the inspections were conducted by Security Groups inside the institutions as part of measures to prevent the entry and possession of unauthorized items.

At the prison institution in Shkodër, inspections were carried out in inmates’ rooms and shared areas.

During a physical search of a detainee identified by the initials G.Z., an “iPhone” mobile phone along with its charger was found and confiscated. In addition, two other “iPhone” mobile phones were discovered in common areas.

At the prison institution in Durrës, inspections took place in Building “A”, where the rooms of detainees identified by the initials G.A., N.B., E.C. and M.Ç. were searched. During the inspection, a black “iPhone” mobile phone was found under detainee E.C.’s pillow, while two USB devices were also seized in the same building.

Meanwhile, at the prison institution in Peqin, two mobile phones were found and confiscated during inspections in the shower areas: a white “Samsung” phone and a black “Redmi” phone.

For all cases, official seizure reports were compiled and the documentation was referred for further procedural actions in accordance with the legislation in force.

As part of the institution’s functional duties and measures aimed at strengthening security and preventing the introduction or possession of prohibited items, the Security Group, under the direction of the Institution Director, the Chief of Police, the Specialist of the Supervision Agency in the Penal Execution System, and under the supervision of Mr. Frank, conducted inspections within the institution.

The inspections were carried out in living quarters and common areas. During the physical inspection of detainee G.Z., one “iPhone” mobile phone together with its charger was discovered and confiscated. The individual was immediately isolated and an incident report was drafted.

Additionally, two more “iPhone” mobile phones were found in shared areas. Relevant documentation, including seizure and handover reports for the prohibited items, was completed for all cases.

Procedural materials were referred to the Agency for further legal actions in accordance with current legislation.

– Inspection for prohibited items at the Penitentiary Institution in Durrës

As part of the institution’s functional duties and measures aimed at strengthening security and preventing the introduction or possession of prohibited items, the Security Group, under the direction of the Institution Director, the Chief of Police, the Specialist of the Supervision Agency in the Penal Execution System, and under the supervision of Mr. Frank, conducted inspections within the institution.

Inspections were conducted in Building “A”, in the room where detainees G.A., N.B., E.C. and M.Ç. were housed.

During the inspection, a black “iPhone” mobile phone was found under detainee E.C.’s pillow, and the detainee admitted that the phone belonged to him.

Two USB devices were also found in Building “A”, and the appropriate procedures for seizure and administration as prohibited items were carried out.

Relevant documentation, including reports on the confiscation and handover of prohibited items, was completed for all cases.

Procedural materials were referred to the Agency for further legal actions in accordance with current legislation.

The inspections were carried out in residential buildings and common areas of the institution.

During the inspection, two mobile phones were found and confiscated in the shower area:

1 white “Samsung” phone and 1 black “Redmi” phone.

Relevant documentation, including seizure and handover reports for the prohibited items, was completed for all cases.

Procedural materials were referred to the Agency for further legal actions in accordance with current legislation.
