Prosecutor’s Office and POA: Misconduct in office, four police officers suspended

The Police Oversight Agency (Durrës-Kavajë Region), following a several-month investigation in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Durrës, regarding the criminal offense of “Abuse of Office” under Article 248 of the Penal Code, has executed preventive measures with a prohibitive character: “Suspension from performing a public duty or service” against four police officers.

The suspended officers are:

Commissioner A. M., who served as Head of the Major Crimes Investigation Section at Kavajë Police Station at the time of the offense, and is currently Head of the Major Crimes Investigation Section at Divjakë Police Station, under DVP Fier.

Deputy Commissioner E. K., a specialist in major crime investigations at Kavajë Police Station.

Inspector R. Ç., a community policing sub-specialist at Kavajë Police Station at the time of the offense, currently serving in urban and interurban traffic duties in the Kavajë Traffic Section.

Deputy Commissioner S. K., specialist/coordinator for community policing specialists at Kavajë Police Station.

The execution of these security measures was made possible after it was found that these officers, during the performance of their duties, failed to conduct controls to prevent the cultivation of narcotic plants, resulting in the discovery of 550 narcotic plants within their coverage area.
