Record foreign employment reaches 22,700 workers, with 50% coming from the Philippines, India, and Egypt

Albania has reached a record high in the employment of foreign nationals, with more than 22,000 foreign workers employed as of June 2026, up from 18,000 at the end of December 2025.
According to data from the Electronic Register for Foreigners (FER), provided to *Monitor* by the State Police, the number of foreign nationals employed in the country reached 22,693 as of June 30, 2026.
Of the total, 20,332 foreign nationals hold a Single Permit as employees, while 2,361 are registered as self-employed under a Single Permit.
The largest number of foreign employees holding Single Permits come from the Philippines, India, and Egypt. Together, nationals from these three countries account for 10,258 employee permits, representing around 50% of all foreign workers in Albania.
Specifically, the number of workers from the Philippines reached 3,552 by June 2026, accounting for approximately 16% of all foreign employees in the country.
They are followed by Indian nationals, with 3,423 workers, or about 15% of the total, while Egyptian nationals number 3,283.
Turkey ranks next with 1,503 Single Permits issued for employees, followed by Italy with 1,306 permits.
Further down the list of countries with the highest number of foreign employees holding Single Permits are the United States with 619 permits, Indonesia with 229 workers, and China with 212 workers holding Single Employee Permits, among others.
