Reimbursable medicines fund increases by 28%, list to be expanded with 20 new drugs

The fund for reimbursable medicines is expected to increase by 28% in 2027.
The fund is projected to reach 17.28 billion lekë, up from 13.5 billion lekë in 2026.
According to data from the 2027–2029 Medium-Term Budget Program, the reimbursable medicines list is expected to expand by 20 drugs, from 1,356 to 1,376 medicines.
Meanwhile, by 2029, the list is projected to include 1,406 medicines.
The scheme is also expected to continue supporting around 400,000 patients per year during the 2027–2029 period.
Average budget funding per patient is projected to increase from around 33,750 lekë in 2026 to 43,200 lekë in 2027.
