Following the case in Fier, the pharmaceutical company Rejsi Farma has been sued by the Central Directorate of the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund for abusive invoicing practices at its branches in other districts.

This time, Rejsi Farma is being sued for allegedly issuing abusive invoices to the Fund’s office in Korçë for supplying medicines to the regional hospital in Korçë.

Similar to the case in Fier, the company reportedly sought to receive public funds through private collection agents, charging the hospital again despite invoices already being paid based on the monthly consumption of medicines according to patient needs.

In Korçë, the company allegedly invoiced both the hospital and the Fund branch covering its expenses in order to maximize public funds, on top of the amounts it already gains—legitimately or otherwise—from healthcare tenders.

The central office of the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund in Tirana filed the lawsuit against Rejsi Farma, claiming nearly 80 million lek for invoices issued in 2023.

However, in a ruling by the Administrative Court of First Instance, Judge Armand Shkurtaj ordered the suspension of the execution of Rejsi Farma’s invoices.

Legal actions against Rejsi Farma are not limited to the hospitals in Fier and Korçë; the company faces additional lawsuits for allegedly issuing abusive invoices to several other regional hospitals across the country.
