Rinas attack: Muçi Shaljani dies after several days in the hospital

40-year-old Muçi Shaljani Sheqeri, who was injured in the attack that killed Gilmando Dani near Rinas Airport, has died after five days in the hospital.

Shaljani passed away five days after the attack, on the afternoon of November 11, near Rinas Airport. He had been hospitalized at the Trauma Center in critical condition.

Gilmando Dani, who was killed on the spot, had just returned from Spain with Shaljani. Dani was shot 10 times, including a fatal shot to the head.

“In continuation of the information provided on 11.11.2025 regarding the incident at the Rinas roundabout, we inform you that citizen M. Sh. (Sh.), who was injured, has died during the night,” the police reported.

Dani and his friend Shaljani were shot with a burst of Kalashnikov fire as they left the airport roundabout. Three armed individuals emerged from a car and fired at the white Mercedes Benz driven by Shaljani. In September, Shaljani had joined the Police Monitoring Agency (AMP) as an agent under a procedure later found to be in violation of the law.

The 40-year-old had been employed by AMP on a three-month provisional contract since September, during which the institution was led by Artiol Saliasi, whose command ends in mid-December. Shaljani’s presence in the car with one of the most notorious figures in the criminal underworld raises serious suspicions.
