Drug use and addiction to social networks are contributing to increased aggression among minors.

Based on cases involving children who are facing justice or have been criminally prosecuted, it appears that minors in conflict with the law are increasingly promoting the violence they are involved in.

As a prosecutor who works with children every day, magistrate Vitjuna Mata, part of the section investigating this age group, is convinced that justice is the final link in prevention.

“There is an increasing trend of physical violence and a trend of displaying it on social networks. This also comes as a result of the social models these minors follow. The model of a strong person, the model of a violent person, is appealing to minors, and they seek to present this model themselves,” prosecutor Mata said.

Although there are no official figures on the number of children who use drugs, one of the first orders issued by the General Director of Police, Skënder Hitaj, was an instruction for subordinates to periodically report what inspections they carry out near schools to combat drug distribution.

The prosecutor says: “Theft is very widespread. There is a widespread trend of violence. Minor injuries. There are fewer cases of serious injuries. There is also a trend among drug users. So, some of them are users of narcotic substances.”
