Rockfall on the Librazhd–Prrenjas road, traffic completely blocked

A large rock mass fell this Sunday on the Librazhd–Prrenjas national road, in the area known as the “Dragostunjë Bends,” completely blocking traffic.

According to reports, the situation is alarming, as the large rocks have entirely covered the road segment, making it impossible for vehicles to pass and seriously endangering drivers’ safety.

Hundreds of citizens have been stuck for hours on one of the most important national arteries connecting Librazhd with southeastern Albania.

Meanwhile, the company carrying out the road widening works on the Librazhd–Dragostunjë–Hotolisht route, which sources on the ground consider directly responsible for the situation, has taken no measures to clear the road and restore traffic.

The situation has caused outrage among drivers who have been blocked for several hours.

**Police announcement:**

On the Librazhd–Qafë Thanë road, in the area called Dragostunjë, as a result of a landslide of earth and rocks from the mountain, vehicle traffic has been completely blocked in both directions.

Road Police services are on site and are cooperating with the road maintenance contractor to clear the road as quickly as possible to resume vehicle movement.

The Elbasan Road Police appeal to all travelers heading toward Korçë and vice versa to avoid traveling until further notice regarding the reopening of the road.
