Rozeta Dobi, known as the cleaner who stole hundreds of thousands of euros in one of the most high-profile criminal cases of 2023, regained her freedom this Wednesday from the women’s prison in Pojskë after benefiting from the criminal amnesty.

Dobi was arrested in January 2023 for the theft of €120,000, $30,000, and valuable items from the apartment of former senior state official Alda Klosi, where she had worked as a cleaner for around five years.

During the investigation, police searched Rozeta Dobi’s home, where they found and seized €404,000, $8,500, and a quantity of gold jewelry hidden inside an extractor pipe. Authorities also seized €58,150, $7,000, 368,000 Albanian lek, and three vehicles, two of which were suspected of being purchased with money obtained from the theft.

The case attracted major public attention not only because of the large sums of money discovered but also because of the subsequent investigations into their origin.

After serving part of her sentence, Rozeta Dobi regained her freedom today, leaving Pojskë prison as a beneficiary of the criminal amnesty.
