Left winger Taryck “TJ” Tahid is the newest player of Skënderbeu.
The news was confirmed by the 18-year-old’s former club in Canada, Vancouver FC, which announced that it had allowed Taryck “TJ” Tahid to leave for Skënderbeu as a free transfer, while retaining a percentage of his rights in case of a future sale.
Tahid signed for the “Eagles” in Canada in 2023, becoming the youngest player in the league, and in his debut season he managed to score 3 goals in 20 matches played.
However, the following two seasons did not go as expected, as he played fewer than 250 minutes, and it seems this pushed the 18-year-old to seek an experience abroad.
Despite his young age, Tahid has already tested himself outside Canada, having gone on trials with Villarreal, New York Red Bulls, and FC Midtjylland.
Born in Canada but of Ghanaian descent through his father, the 18-year-old has attracted interest from both national team camps.
He has played two full matches for Ghana against Morocco at U-20 level, and has also represented Canada’s U-18s in Finland before his club announced his transfer to Albania.
Previously, he also made four appearances for Canada at U-17 level, including three matches at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Tahid made 46 appearances for Vancouver FC over the last three seasons, scoring four goals in just over 1,000 minutes of play.
“Everyone at the club wishes him the best in his future endeavors,” read a statement from Vancouver FC.
At Skënderbeu, Taryck “TJ” Tahid arrives as a promising talent and is seen as the possible replacement for Saleh Nasr, who has been the subject of offers from other clubs during this transfer window.
From an “Eagle” to a “Wolf,” welcome to Korçë, Tahid, and best of luck in the red-and-white jersey of Skënderbeu.
