A cybersecurity expert at the National Authority for Cyber Security, Kristian Josifi, has explained some of the most common forms of online scam campaigns, emphasizing the growing risk these schemes pose to users.

According to him, one of the key elements in identifying a scam is verifying the sender. He stressed that citizens should be especially cautious of numbers or addresses from which messages come, even when they appear to be Albanian numbers, as they are often spoofed to gain victims’ trust.

Josifi warned that scammers are using increasingly sophisticated methods, such as messages imitating banks, state institutions, or well-known companies, asking for personal or financial data. In many cases, these messages contain fake links that lead to websites that look identical to official ones.

He advised users not to click on suspicious links, never to share sensitive data such as passwords or banking codes, and to use two-factor authentication for their accounts.

The expert also suggested that any suspicious case should be reported immediately to the relevant institutions in order to prevent further spread of scams.

He called for greater awareness and caution from citizens, stressing that the best protection against online fraud remains information and constant vigilance.
