Surprise inspections in prisons, mobile phones seized

As part of surprise and intensified inspections in the penitentiary system, additional cases of possession of prohibited items have been identified and struck.

At Fushë Krujë prison, during a check in external areas, 3 mobile phones were found. Meanwhile, at IEVP Peqin, based on operational information, police forces carried out a search, where 1 mobile phone was identified and seized.

“In both cases, the relevant procedural actions were carried out immediately and the Internal Control Service of the Prison System was notified for further procedures.

Authorities state that inspections will continue without interruption, with zero tolerance for any violations and with a clear focus on ensuring security in the penitentiary system,” говорится in a statement from the General Directorate of Prisons.
