Another great athlete is celebrating today. It is Anila Menkshi, another great emblem of athletics.
Anila, like many other notable names, brought glory to this city and all of Albania.
The great Korçë-born athlete, Anila Kasati (Menkshi), is celebrating her 58th birthday today.
Anila is one of the most accomplished athletes in the history of Albanian athletics. She has won numerous championship titles from a young age, competing in races of 800, 1500, 2000, 3000, 5000, and 10,000 meters. Anila Kasati (Menkshi) has also won many medals in various Balkan and international competitions.
In 1986, at the Balkan Youth Championship, she won two medals, and she was crowned Balkan Champion in both 1991 and 1996.
The story of this Korçë-born athlete is part of the history of Albanian athletics.
Anila, under the guidance of coach Piro Kasati, along with fellow athletes Pavlina Evro and Donika Hanxhara, gave Korçë a legacy in athletics that will be hard to match again.
