The rebirth of women' basketball in Korçë: Skënderbeu Club brings new hope

In recent days, the portal “Korça Boom” has raised an important concern regarding the lack of a woman' basketball team in the city of Korçë. This strong appeal came following the success of the 9-year school “Sotir Gura”, which won the championship title in the national school basketball competition.

The students of this school, passionate about the sport, have expressed their desire to continue pursuing their dream in basketball. Their passion and dedication have prompted local coaches and sports officials to seriously consider finding a sustainable solution.

The executive director of the multi-sport club “Skënderbeu,” Olsa Vaso, has announced to “Korça Boom” that the club is preparing a project to establish a girls’ basketball team. She stated:“Regarding this issue, we as a club have a project in place for basketball. I hope that, with the help of the many available specialists, we can begin to bring our ideas to life.”

Among the names mentioned as potential collaborators in this project are well-known figures in Korçë’s sports scene, including Arjan Kostani, Emil Papa, Reinaldo Kacori, and Bruno Topi—all of whom are ready to contribute to making this initiative a reality.
