The Transparency Board has once again changed fuel prices this Wednesday.

The Board has increased the price of diesel from 197 lekë/litre to 202 lekë/litre.

The price of petrol has also been increased, from 172 lekë/litre to 176 lekë/litre.

Official notice:

On 22 April 2026, at its regular meeting, the Transparency Board decided:

The retail price of diesel (gasoil, standard SSH EN 590) shall be no more than 202 lekë/litre, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 190 lekë/litre.

The retail price of petrol (standard SSH EN) shall be no more than 176 lekë/litre, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 164 lekë/litre.

The prices set by the Board will enter into force today, 22 April at 12:30, and will remain valid until the next Board meeting, when any price changes will be reflected.

We draw the attention of all wholesale and retail operators of oil derivatives to the obligation to comply with this decision. In case of violations by operators, suspension of activity will be imposed.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and maintaining fair competition principles in the market.

Clarification: Referring to Emergency Act No. 1, dated 3.4.2026, “On an amendment to Law No. 61/2012, ‘On Excise Taxes in the Republic of Albania,’ as amended,” it is provided that if the retail price of diesel exceeds 220 lekë/litre or petrol exceeds 200 lekë/litre, an 80% excise level applies. Based on the methodology for calculating maximum retail prices, current prices are below the threshold of the Act; therefore, the full 100% excise rate will apply.
