Operations against providing assistance to migrants to cross borders illegally continue.

The coded police operation “Itinerari 2” has been finalized.

Another Sudanese national has been arrested, who helped six migrants cross the border illegally from Greece into our country, with the aim of reaching one of the EU countries.

Another citizen is also being criminally prosecuted for illegal crossing of the state border.

As a result of investigations and intensive operational work carried out to prevent and crack down on illegal activities at the border specifically the criminal activity of providing assistance, in exchange for money, to migrants attempting to travel unlawfully to EU countries the RDBM Korça structures organized and finalized the coded police operation “Itinerari 2”.

Within the framework of the operation, citizen M. J., 24 years old, resident of Darfur, Sudan, was caught in flagrante and arrested.

He was apprehended by Border Police services at the place called “Fusha e Parë”, above the village of Drenovë, Korça, after investigative actions and operational information indicated that he had helped six migrants cross illegally from Greece into the territory of Albania.

Work continues to identify and bring to criminal responsibility other citizens involved in this illegal activity.

Also, specialists for Crime Investigation at RDBM Korça referred the materials to the Prosecutor’s Office, where criminal proceedings were initiated for the criminal offense of “Illegal crossing of the state border” against citizen O. C., 30 years old, resident of Elbasan, who is suspected of having crossed illegally into Greece.

The procedural materials for these cases were referred to the Korça Prosecutor’s Office for further actions.
