Two Albanian brothers, individuals with prior criminal records in Greece, have been arrested as suspected perpetrators of the explosive attack on the “Jacky.O” nightclub on Michalakopoulou Street in Athens, on the evening of October 7, 2025.
Greek police arrested Blerim Buci, 41, and Besmir Buci, 32, both from Tirana. In addition to the charge of causing an explosion with explosives, there was an active arrest warrant against them for violating restrictive residence conditions, robbery, and violations of weapons laws.
More specifically, it was revealed that after parking a vehicle near the nightclub, 32-year-old Besmir Buci approached the premises on foot and then placed and activated an improvised explosive device. He then got back into the vehicle, where 41-year-old Blerim Buci was waiting for him, and they fled together. It was also established that the vehicle used by the perpetrators had been provided to them by their accomplice, a 44-year-old Greek man.
During searches carried out, police found and seized a folding knife, 8 mobile phones, a remote-control device with a screen, 2 notebooks with notes, clothing worn during the explosion, as well as the aforementioned vehicle used to commit the act.
“… For the bomb, I was hired by a couple who had old scores, as they told me, with the shop owner, and they gave me 5,000 euros to go and place it.”
These were the only words of admission from one of the two arrested men. According to the police investigation, the bomb was a “warning message.” The perpetrators demanded money in exchange for providing illegal protection, but the shop owner’s categorical refusal to submit to the extortion led to retaliation.
During the operation, 41-year-old Blerim Buci was found in an undisclosed outdoor area, where he attempted to hide. When police approached and tried to stop him, he resisted violently, striking with his hands and feet, but officers managed to restrain him. The arrested individuals, who have previously been accused, among other offenses depending on the case, of theft, indecent acts, robbery, fraud, dangerous bodily harm, forgery, as well as violations of drug laws, were taken to the competent prosecutorial authority.
