Traffic Police: 6,373 fines in 72 hours, 12 drivers prosecuted

The Traffic Police Commissariat of Tirana, during the last 72 hours (April 20–22, 2026), has imposed a total of 6,373 administrative measures, of which 1,583 are related to road safety.


According to the statement released to the media, these measures by violations are as follows:


38 measures for driving under the influence of alcohol (Article 184).

372 measures for exceeding speed limits (Article 140).

15 measures for failure to adjust speed (Article 139).

10 measures for running a red light (Article 144/3).

111 measures for using a mobile phone while driving (Article 171).

126 measures for not wearing a seatbelt (Article 170).

6 measures for illegal tinted windows (Article 72/12).

4 measures for lack of technical inspection (Article 79/10).

113 measures for failure to give priority to pedestrians (Article 189).

422 measures for not using protective helmets/reflective vests (Article 169).

56 measures for improper overtaking (Article 146).

2 measures for failing to obey a stop sign (Article 143).

4,790 measures for improper parking (Article 156).

23 measures for motorcycles driving in bicycle lanes (Article 144/2).

314 other measures for various violations of road signage, etc.


Under Article 290, “Violation of traffic rules,” 12 drivers have been prosecuted, 2 arrested and 5 under investigation while free.


One of the drivers is also charged under Article 291 for driving under the influence, and another for driving without a license.
