The mother of the two-month-old baby who passed away at UHC has accused doctors of being responsible for her child’s death.
The mother from Korçë, Vjollca Shkëmbi, told Euronews Albania that the doctors released her baby from the hospital prematurely, which she says proved fatal.
She called on the state and police to take action against doctors in both Tirana and Korçë.
“The fault lies with the state, with the Tirana hospital that released him too early. This caused my child to die prematurely. The baby neither ate nor drank. I ask the state to take action, for the police to take action against the doctors in Tirana who caused my child’s death, and against the doctors in Korçë who said the baby should stay 10 days but returned him on the second day. I want the state to take measures for this matter,” the mother said.
The baby had been urgently transferred to the Tirana hospital for more specialized care due to a critical condition, arriving on March 13 in serious condition.
According to the investigative team, the case materials have been sent to the Prosecutor’s Office of Korçë, where investigations will determine whether the cause of death was malnutrition or another health issue the baby may have had since birth.
