The Director General of the State Police, Senior Director Skënder Hita, handed over the Medal of Gratitude to the family of Martyr of the Homeland Inspector Enea Mekolli, following his heroic act in the line of duty.

On the occasion of the birthday of the son of Martyr Enea Mekolli, the Director General of the State Police, Senior Director Skënder Hita, accompanied by senior officials of the State Police, paid a visit to the Mekolli family.

“I know that no words and no support can replace Enea. I cannot bring our Enea back to you, but I want to assure you that you will never be alone. I, the State Police, every police officer, the Ministry of Interior, and the Albanian Government will always stand by you, to support you in every need and at every moment.

Enea’s son turned one year old. It is a birthday filled with pain due to the absence of his father, but also with pride for the legacy he has left behind.

The son of our Martyr now has the status of ‘Child in the Care of the Republic’ and until the completion of higher education, will benefit from his father’s full salary, free education and healthcare, as well as all other rights provided by law. We wish him a long life, health, and prosperity. May he grow up proud that his father gave his life in service to the country and its citizens,” said Hita.

The Director General handed over to the family the documentation recognizing the martyr’s son with the status of “Child in the Care of the Republic,” the Medal of Gratitude awarded to Inspector Enea Mekolli for his noble act in the line of duty, as well as a symbolic cheque worth 7 million new lek (an amount transferred to a bank account), a contribution from State Police officers as a sign of solidarity with the martyr’s family.

“This is a contribution collected from the heart by State Police officers, as a sign of respect, gratitude, and solidarity for Enea’s noble sacrifice, as well as support for the family of the Martyr of the Homeland.

We have a moral and institutional duty to take care of his family, and we will fulfill this duty with responsibility and dedication.

You lost your son, we lost a colleague, a friend, and an exemplary police officer. But Enea’s name and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We will stand by you, while his memory will live forever in our hearts, in the history of the State Police, and in the honor of all Albanians,” Hita added.

The martyr’s family, between grief and pride, thanked Hita for the continuous support since the day Enea fell as a Martyr of the Homeland in the line of duty.

They also expressed gratitude to all State Police officers for their solidarity and contribution in support of their family.
