The General Director of the State Police, Ilir Poda, has issued a serious warning to all drivers who violate traffic rules, particularly in relation to double parking, a growing concern in urban areas. According to Poda, this is not just an administrative offense but can escalate to a criminal act, depending on the location and the risk it poses to traffic and public safety.
He emphasized that in certain critical cases such as double parking in front of high-security institutions, including prisons this behavior may be considered as obstructing the work of state structures and creating a direct threat to public order. In such situations, offenders could face up to three years in prison.
Authorities regard double parking as a form of road obstruction that significantly restricts the free movement of vehicles and pedestrians. In specific areas where unimpeded circulation is crucial for security or emergency access, this violation poses a serious threat and will not be tolerated.
The State Police has launched a broader awareness and enforcement campaign across major cities in the country. Immediate fines are being issued, and additional penalties are being applied to irresponsible drivers. When the act is deemed dangerous or obstructive to the operation of state institutions, criminal proceedings may follow.
Ilir Poda called on all citizens and drivers to respect traffic laws, especially in sensitive zones such as entrances to hospitals, schools, government buildings, and prisons.
Respecting traffic regulations, he stressed, is not only a legal obligation but also a civic responsibility for ensuring a safe and orderly environment for everyone.
