Weekend with thunderstorms and rain, here are the most affected regions according to IGEWE

The Institute of Geosciences, Energy, Water and Environment in Albania (IGJEUM) has issued a forecast regarding weather conditions for the weekend.

According to the data, all regions of the country will be dominated by unstable weather conditions, with thunderstorms and rainfall varying in intensity depending on the area.

The weekend will also bring a drop in temperatures and mainly windy conditions along the coast.

Rainfall:

This afternoon and tomorrow, Saturday 9 May, moderate to locally intense rainfall is expected in the districts of Dibër, Lezhë, Durrës, Tirana, Elbasan, Vlorë, and Gjirokastër. In Fier, Berat, and Korçë, moderate rainfall is expected, while in other districts light to locally moderate rain is forecast. Rain is expected to come in the form of thunderstorms in most regions.

The thunderstorms and heavy rainfall may cause various problems, such as landslides and localized urban flooding, depending on drainage systems, especially in Dibër, Lezhë, Durrës, Vlorë, and Gjirokastër.

Minimum and maximum air temperatures are expected to reach:

Coastal areas: 15 / 19°C

Lowlands: 14 / 17°C

Mountain areas: 9 / 15°C

Wind:

This afternoon and tomorrow, wind is expected to blow from moderate to strong, mainly along the coast.
