A year ago, Dhionis Robert Kotmilo, one of the beloved figures of the city of Korçë, passed away, leaving a deep mark on public life and the leadership of the municipality during one of the country’s most challenging periods.

From 1996 to 2000, Berti served as mayor of Korçë, facing the major challenges of the time with responsibility and dedication. It was a turbulent period for Albania, marked by the 1997 revolution and later the Kosovo war.

With an early commitment to democratic processes, he first became chairman of the Municipal Council and later took over the mayoral position as a representative of the Democratic Party.

His experience as a leader and dedication to the city were reflected in the way he managed a period of crisis and uncertainty.

Today, a year after Berti’s passing, we remember his contributions, sacrifices, and civic commitment. His memory and work remain a part of Korçë’s history.
